When I was 8, she got pregnant because her birth control failed. “Abortion?” society gasped! “What if that unborn child grows up to cure cancer someday?”
That rainy afternoon 40 years ago, my mom stood at a crossroads. She made the choice that was only hers to make. She chose me, her living child.
